The Australian Wagyu Association’s next WagyuEdge Conference is due to be held in Brisbane, Australia from 15-17 April 2026. Look out for further information in due course on www.wagyu.org.au
We are pleased to announce the highly anticipated third edition of the British Wagyu Conference, in partnership with Warrendale Wagyu, which will be held 13-14 May 2026 at the Border Union Agricultural Showground, Kelso, Scottish Borders, TD5 8LS. Open to British Wagyu members and Warrendale partner farmers, come and celebrate the ‘bright horizons’ of Wagyu farming with us as we explore an exciting future for the industry.
The Venue
This time, we are heading to the Border Union Agricultural Showground in Kelso, home of the world-renowned Kelso Ram Sales. Instead of a conventional hotel venue, we have chosen a setting rooted in agricultural heritage. The showground gives us space to transform the site into a Wagyu showcase, complete with an exhibitor hub and indoor seminar stage. Overlooking the River Tweed, the showground is a short walk from the cobbled streets of Kelso, with plenty of eateries and pubs, and the magnificent Floors Castle.
The Itinerary
Day One of the conference will feature expert panel sessions and speakers from across the supply chain, offering insight and inspiration. And, of course, a chance to hear what the future holds for Warrendale Wagyu and British Wagyu. End the day with an evening of good-old Scottish hospitality at our Gala Dinner (early bird price at £60 per head). Expect great food, live music, and a special auction to raise money for our chosen charities, RABI and RSABI. Please note, Day One is expected to be a 9am for 9.30am start.
On Day Two, we will be heading to Kelloe Mains Farm (approximately 30-min drive) for a packed itinerary of workshops and masterclasses. Please note, Day Two will run 10am to 4pm approximately.
More details will be announced soon, including profiles of our industry-leading domestic and international speakers along with sponsorship opportunities. Please click HERE to book your place.
Sponsorship
We saw a great number of associated companies and businesses support our last conference. Again, we have a wide range of sponsorship packages available with different costs and benefits. Please click HERE to see the packages or email Warrendale’s Sophie Hudson sophie@warrendale-wagyu.co.uk.
Accommodation
We have reserved a limited number of hotel rooms near the venue for the conference. These are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms are booked for 12th and 13th May 2026. You may, of course, choose your own accommodation options.

The National Beef Association (NBA) is delighted to announce that their flagship biannual event, NBA Beef Expo is to be hosted by the country’s biggest town centre livestock mart in Melton Mowbray on Saturday, 30th May 2026. Under the banner of ‘Beefing Up Food Security’, Beef Expo’s ultra-competitive show classes in the National Commercial Cattle Show will once again put the very best of the UK’s commercial beef on display, and a programme of expert seminars and discussions will focus on the strategies required to drive the industry through its current challenges to a sustainable future.
As well as celebrating the UK’s world class beef industry, the one-day event will aim to raise public and political awareness of the potentially disastrous threats to the country’s beef supply chain, says NBA Chief Executive, Neil Shand: “We are at a critical juncture for beef production in the UK, whether it’s suckler or dairy bred beef. At Beef Expo next year, we will not hold back in pressing our politicians on the undeniable importance of supporting home-produced food. They continue to preach that food security is national security, yet we need to see tangible proof of this commitment.
“With current pressures increasing on the British beef industry, Beef Expo has never had a more vital role in bringing together breeders, farmers, and business stakeholders to demonstrate the strength and vitality of this critical aspect of the country’s home-grown food production.
“In 2026, Beef Expo will give us a platform to host a major political seminar once again, but that’s not all. We’re introducing a special livestock health and welfare hub to address pressing issues and provide vital resources. And on a positive note, we’ll be introducing the ‘Best Beef Burger Competition’ to showcase the incredible quality of our beef! It’s time to unite and demand the support our industry deserves, and it couldn’t be more fitting to hold Beef Expo at such an important centre for the livestock industry as Melton Mowbray.”
It is anticipated that the British Wagyu Association will have a presence at the event. For further information, see NBA Beef Expo.
Beef Expo organisers Ben Harman, Neil Shand & Hugh Brown
NBA Beef Expo will take place within the historic town centre livestock mart that has helped give Melton Mowbray the title of the ‘UK’s Rural Capital of Food’. With an uninterrupted history that stretches back over 1,000 years, the mart has been developed and tripled in size since 2017, becoming one of the country’s biggest and most successful livestock hubs, with customers coming from all corners of the country for commercial and pedigree sales, as well as the developing Stockyard food and drink destination in the old part of the Market.
Along with Ben Harman, Chair of the National Beef Association, Melton Mowbray Mart CEO Hugh Brown will be Joint Chair of the event: “We are absolutely delighted to be hosting the NBA Beef Expo next year with its timely focus on food security and resilient supply chains, which we and other marts form a key part of. We look forward to welcoming visitors, exhibitors, sponsors and speakers to Beef Expo, the Market, the Stockyard and this lovely town next year.”

The Wagyu Olympics, also known as Zenkyo, is a unique competition held in Japan every five years. The next event is due to be held 26-30 August 2027 in Hokkaido, one of Japan’s northernmost islands with a UK visit now provisionally in place to include one day at the event itself (Friday 27th). The provisional tour is of 10 days and includes a broad mix of Wagyu dining and farm visits, the Zenkyo itself, plus a number of tourist and city highlights including Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima. Click HERE for the draft programme.
Here are some fascinating details about the Wagyu Olympics:
Purpose and History:
The Wagyu Olympics was launched in 1966 to encourage high-quality cattle breeding, promote Wagyu beef both within and outside Japan, and boost tourism
The competition aims to identify the best beef in the world by evaluating both breeding cows and carcases
Competitive Categories:
There are two main categories:
Breed Improvement: Judges assess cows based on their size, proportions, and other outwardly visible standards
Meat Quality: Carcases are judged on fat quality and content
Winning breeders get the opportunity to sell their cattle and carcasses to top restaurants and butchers worldwide at premium prices
Auction:
At the end of the competition, the best breeding cows and carcasses are sold at auction to the highest bidders in Japan
2027 Event:
The next Wagyu Olympics is to take place 26-30 August 2027 in Obihiro City, Hokkaido, Japan. We plan to visit on Fri 27th

The British Wagyu Association will be having a joint stand with Warrendale Wagyu at the forthcoming Royal Welsh Show being held Builth Wells 21-24 July. This will be a first for British Wagyu and may be a useful stepping stone towards perhaps showing some Wagyu cattle in future years in the livestock classes. Come and find us at Stand 698A-L (see map below). Look out for further information in due course with a drinks reception provisionally planned for the Tuesday evening.
The Royal Northern Agricultural Society (RNAS) will host BeefTech 25 by kind permission of the Gall Family at Home Farm, Kininmonth, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, AB42 4JJ on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025. This beef enterprise, which finishes 1,000 cattle per year, has lately taken on two batches of Wagyu-cross store cattle in conjunction with Warrendale Wagyu - hence the joint presence of the British Wagyu Association and Warrendale at this year’s event.
The event continues a long tradition of specialist events hosted by the RNAS over the years and will see a broad range of activities to promote agriculture and the beef industry within and outside the farming sector.
With details of the one-day programme still to be firmed up, activities will centre on education and knowledge sharing through the likes of demonstrations, seminars, exhibitions and more with a focus on eating quality.
The Galls focus mainly on finishing cattle and a suckler herd of predominantly Saler cows put to an Angus or Limousin bull. Lambs supplied from Shetland are finished over the winter. Their arable enterprise focuses on feed barley for themselves with the addition of OSR, wheat and milling oats for sale and some local contracting work.
Commenting on plans for the event, RNAS president Alan Cumming said: “We are delighted to announce our latest on-farm industry event, and we are sure that the industry will get on board with what is shaping up to be an excellent showcase for our sector.
“The Gall family have provided us with the ideal location at Kininmonth and we are very grateful to them for their support. We now hope that sponsors, exhibitors and visitors will join our efforts to deliver an important opportunity for learning, discussion and promotion.”
Noel Gall commented: “As farmers and hoteliers, we are uniquely positioned to thoroughly understand the farm to fork journey, and the opportunities and challenges its holds.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to the event to share not only what we do on our own farm, but also to shine a light on the wider agricultural sector for the benefit of all, from farmers to consumers.”
Noel added: “We are really interested to shine a light on new and innovative solutions for the beef industry and to explore how to optimize the farm to fork journey, something particularly important for us.”
